Dan is a queer, working class, disabled filmmaker based in Sheffield with fifteen years of experience in the creative industries.
He is the creator of a slate of short films that look for the extraordinary in the everyday, always with an emphasis on heart and humour. His BFI National Lottery funded queer council estate western HOPE AIN'T RIGHT (2023) premiered at the BIFA qualifying North East International Film Festival 2023. DADDY (2024), Dan's first short involving a full studio set build, as well as his first time working with an intimacy co-ordinator, recently premiered Ridgway International Film Festival 2025. Experimental art film DEATH IS AN ENDLESS STEADY SEA (2025) is currently embarked on its festival run.
Dan is an Edinburgh International Film Festival Talent Lab 2022 alumnus, a BAFTA Connect member, and alongside his own work mentors and leads workshops for emerging filmmakers on a 1-to-1 and group basis through Screen Yorkshire, BFI and multiple universities, with a particular focus on championing neurodivergent, disabled, queer, and working class voices.
Under Dan's guidance Funnibygger focuses on producing strong queer, disabled, and working class stories with an ever-blossoming cast and crew of deeply talented fellow creatives.
Collaboration is at the heart of everything Dan does.
